Specialist and Allied Health Clinics
With support from our Partners CAHS hosts a number of allied health and specialist clinics attending the clinic on a regular basis. Specialist services are provided to both CAHS clients and to members of the local community.
Before seeing any of our visiting specialists you will require a written referral from our GP. Please be aware that some clinics do have a waiting list.
Podiatry
CAHS offers fortnightly podiatry services. CAHS podiatrists are qualified health professionals specialising in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and surgical conditions of feet and lower limbs.
Podiatry can help with kids’ health, diabetes, sports injuries, structural problems (biomechanics), treatment of the elderly and general foot care.
For an appointment with our Podiatrist, you will need to undertake a health check and be referred by our GP or health worker.
As with all our services, this service is bulk-billed.
Audiology
CAHS provides culturally safe audiology services for our Aboriginal patients. We offer information, tools and resources for parents and carers so they can make informed decisions about their hearing or their child’s ear and hearing health.
Good hearing ensures children can listen and learn and stay connected to friends’, family and community throughout their life. Hearing problems can start as early as when they are bubs and it’s important to get their hearing checked often.
CAHS offers monthly qualified audiologist services for both adults and children including:
Diagnostic Hearing assessments
Ongoing support and guidance for a child’s hearing needs and for parents.
Hearing reports and referrals to GPs
Swimming plugs and ear plugs
Hearing solutions to help clients hear clearly in their everyday lives.
Ongoing support and professional audiology advice.
Advice on how to protect your hearing, including resources and fact sheets.
Physiotherapy
CAHS provides weekly physiotherapy services for both children and adults, helping clients manage pain, recover from injuries and improve mobility and strength. Our physiotherapist offers hands-on treatment, exercise programs and rehabilitation strategies tailored to each individual’s needs.
We can assist with:
Musculoskeletal pain and injuries
Post-surgical rehabilitation
Sports injuries
Mobility and balance issues
Chronic condition management
This service is free for eligible patients.
Dietetics/Nutrition
CAHS provides monthly dietetics services for children, adults and families, supporting healthy eating and improved nutrition outcomes. Our dietitian works with clients to develop practical strategies that support their health goals and overall wellbeing.
We can assist with:
Diabetes management
Healthy eating and nutrition advice
Weight management
Heart health and cholesterol management
Food allergies and intolerances
Nutrition support during pregnancy
This service is free for eligible patients.
Optometry
CAHS provides visiting optometry services to support eye health and early detection of vision problems. Regular eye checks are important for maintaining independence, safety and quality of life.
We can assist with:
Comprehensive eye examinations
Vision assessments
Prescription glasses referrals
Diabetic eye health monitoring
Eye disease screening
Children's vision assessments
This service is free for eligible patients.
Cardiology
CAHS provides monthly access to visiting cardiology specialists who support the prevention, diagnosis and management of heart conditions.
We can assist with:
Heart health assessments
Investigation of cardiac symptoms
Management of heart disease
Blood pressure monitoring and advice
Specialist referrals and follow-up care
Chronic disease management
Referral from one of our GPs is required for this service.
Nephrology (Kidney Health)
CAHS provides 5 Nephrology clinics a year. The nephrology clinic supports people living with kidney disease and related health conditions. Early detection and specialist management can help slow the progression of kidney disease and improve overall health outcomes.
We can assist with:
Kidney disease assessment and management
Chronic kidney disease monitoring
Diabetes-related kidney complications
High blood pressure affecting kidney health
Specialist advice on kidney function and treatment options
Coordination of ongoing care and referrals

Why Kidney Health Matters
Aboriginal people experience higher rates of chronic kidney disease and related health conditions. Regular health checks, early diagnosis and ongoing specialist care can help protect kidney function and improve quality of life.
This service is provided through visiting specialist clinics and is free for eligible patients.
ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat)
CAHS provides access to visiting ENT specialists for the assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the ears, nose and throat.
We can assist with:
Hearing and ear problems
Chronic ear infections
Sinus and nasal conditions
Tonsil and throat conditions
Sleep and breathing concerns
Specialist assessment and treatment
Referral from one of our GPs is required for this service.
Endocrinology
CAHS provides monthly access to visiting endocrinology services for people living with hormone-related conditions and complex chronic diseases.
We can assist with:
Diabetes management
Thyroid disorders
Hormonal conditions
Metabolic disorders
Osteoporosis management
Specialist advice and treatment planning

GP/OBGYN
CAHS provides monthly access to visiting obstetric services to support women throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.
We can assist with:
Pregnancy care and monitoring
Antenatal assessments
Pregnancy-related health concerns
Specialist advice and referrals
Birth planning support
Postnatal follow-up care
Appointment Prioritisation
As appointment availability is limited, referrals and bookings are prioritised to ensure women with the greatest need receive timely access to specialist care. Priority may be given based on:
Clinical urgency and level of risk
Pregnancy-related care requirements
Women requiring specialist assessment, treatment or follow-up
Existing patients requiring continuity of care
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women accessing services funded to improve Aboriginal maternal and women's health outcomes
Women referred by our GP for complex or time-sensitive conditions
To maximise access, CAHS also maintains a cancellation list and offers available appointments to patients who have indicated they are able to attend at short notice.
GP/Skin Specialist
CAHS provides access to visiting skin specialists who assist with the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions.

Mental Health Practitioner
CAHS provides mental health support services in a culturally safe and supportive environment. Our practitioners work alongside clients to improve emotional wellbeing and strengthen resilience.

Psychiatry
CAHS provides access to visiting psychiatric services for people requiring specialist mental health assessment and treatment.
