Farewell to our walkabout Doctor
Tuesday 21 July 2026 was a bittersweet day at Condobolin Aboriginal Health Service as we said farewell to the much-loved Dr May, who has made the difficult decision to leave CAHS to serve a remote community in the Northern Territory.
As one of her patients so beautifully put it, "She's our walkabout doctor." We hope that one day, when the travelling gets a little too much, she'll find her way back home to us.
Over many years, Dr May has cared for our community with compassion, dedication and unwavering commitment. She has supported some families across three generations, building trusted relationships that have made a lasting difference to so many lives. Known for her warmth, sense of humour and unique character, Dr May has become a treasured part of the CAHS family.
Community members, Board Directors and staff came together at the Fire Station today to celebrate her remarkable contribution, share stories, laughter and heartfelt thanks.
On behalf of everyone at CAHS, thank you, Dr May, for your years of service, kindness and care. We wish you every success in this exciting new chapter, and the door will always be open should your walkabout ever bring you back to Condobolin. 💙
The day was made even more special as we also celebrated Aunty Anna's 80th birthday with family, friends and community. Aunty Anna is a wonderful testament to the progress being made in Closing the Gap—living a long, healthy life while continuing to inspire those around her with her strength, wisdom and connection to community. Happy 80th Birthday, Aunty Anna. We are honoured to celebrate this incredible milestone with you. 💙
